Yonex Astrox 99 Pro (White Tiger) Badminton Racket
Known to be ultra-powerful on the badminton court, the Astrox 99 Pro is a head-heavy power racket with one of the heaviest swings today. You can generate powerful smashes with the racket. The company has addressed the problem of the original Astrox 99 being too heavy for recovery and crafted a new racket that resulted in an extended shuttle hold for improved defensive shots!
In addition to the Power-Assit Bumper for increased weight at the top of the frame, the company has included Wide Diameter Grommets for enhanced defensive shot-making. It means you can ensure accurate shot placement. With an entire NAMD frame and Volume Cut Resin material, this made-in-Japan AX99-P racquet has made significant improvements to become the champion! I currently own the Astrox 99 - the first-gen racket for playing singles game weekly. I am searching for a new racket that is as strong as the AX99 but also gives me a bit of speed. I am confused between Astrox 99 Pro and Astrox 100 ZZ.
Often players compare AX99-P and AX100ZZ because both belong to the Astrox power rackets family. However, both rackets differ in one basic category. Astrox 99 Pro is a head-heavy racket with Power-Assist Bumper in the racket head for more power. If you enjoy flat drives and smashes, go for AX99-P without a doubt.
On the other hand, Astrox 100 ZZ may be a head-heavy racket, but its weight distribution is slightly more even-balanced. It promises faster response for quick rallies. Even though it has the Black Micro Core technology for additional weight, the company has used an innovative Rotational Generator System to balance the weight. So, it is more of an all-around racket model for players who do not want to compromise speed for power.
Why has Yonex launched several variants of the Astrox 99 racket? Initially, it was easy to make a decision. However, now it gets confusing. How to choose between Pro, Tour, Game, and Play variants.
Introducing new variants of the same racket is the current Yonex strategy. The company is creating an ecosystem in which each of its flagship models is accompanied by budget variants.
For example, there was only one variant when Astrox 99 came to the shelves in 2018. Then, the company introduced a new model in a few months. The company knows that people want to buy their successful model but avoid it due to the cost of premium made-in-Japan models. So, they now introduce affordable options to increase their market base and allow customers to experience Yonex rackets.
Here is a detailed categorization of all the models to help you decide.
Thinking of buying a new racket but do not know which one to pick: Astrox 99 Pro seems truly powerful but Astrox 88d Pro is good too. Which one is well-suited to me? You can call me an aggressive player who plays more singles games than doubles.
Astrox 99 Pro is an ideal racket for power players. If you play more singles games, this racket is a good choice because it lets you add more power to your shots. The company has used the new technology of Wide Diameter Grommets to hold the shuttlecock longer and deliver accurate shot placement.
If you want a racket that's faster than AX99-Pro and well-suited for doubles and singles games, we recommend Astrox 88 D Pro.
Looking to gift my son a new badminton racket for his birthday. Can you suggest between AX99-P and ARC11-P? He is an intermediate player who dedicates several hours of his week to the sport. He is currently using Victor Ryuga and wants to try Yonex.
Thank you for choosing Nydhi to ask your doubts and questions. As you mentioned your son is currently using Victor Ryuga, we assume he is a power player. For an aggressive player who wants to play smashes and drives, the Astrox 99 Pro can be a good choice. As he is an intermediate player, it will be more forgiving and well-suited to his playing style.
ARC11-P is an even-balanced racket with players who have mastered badminton skills. It is a good choice for players who demand control and precision.
How to choose between Astrox 99 Pro and 77 Pro?
To know which racket works best, you must consider the features and specifications in detail:
Remember that Astrox 99 Pro has a stiff flex designed to generate more power. It comes with Power-Assist Bumper for explosive shots. AX77-P does not have this technology because even though it is a head-heavy model, it has a medium flex for more flexibility and faster snapback. It is more comfortable for intermediate players and recreational players.
